Representative Darcey Edwards is pro-data center, anti-choice, pro-ICE, and anti-affordability. She sponsored GOP’s out-of-touch initiatives like SB1586, helping build data centers and big tech in North Plains by raising utility rates for people who live nearby and giving companies hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks. She sponsored HB4087, undermining medical judgment and women’s freedom to manage pregnancies. She sponsored HB3103, gutting environmental protections. I’m a big “No” to all that.

First term Rep. Edwards is a multimillionaire and Koch Brothers beneficiary, a realtor who lives rurally on 32 acres and wants to keep letting private equity firms bid up house prices in Oregon, voting against HB 4128. She wants ICE to stay masked and without visible IDs, voting against HB 4138.

Her campaign website has just one page about her legislative work and her priorities. There’s not much there, there, and what there is, is meh. Here’s my take on it.

She doesn’t bring much to the legislature. A realtor since 2012, she has sold almost $200 million of real estate.  Prior to that she was a membership coordinator for the Hillsboro (now Washington County) Chamber of Commerce, where her sister Deanna Palm was the CEO.  Before that, she worked in the purchasing department for Planar Systems, a digital display manufacturing corporation with a facility in Hillsboro. In her real estate content she writes about her high tech industry background. As a software engineer and an MIT guy, I felt surprised to learn that this was all she was referring to. 

According to her public filing statement with the Oregon Secretary of State, this is her education.

In 2024 she filed for her House seat 30 days before the deadline on the day her obstructionist GOP predecessor, Brian Stout, dropped out and endorsed her. Her opponent that November was a 21 year old tax clerk, Jordan Gutierrez. Despite the favorable setup, she only got 59% of the vote. And there’s gonna be a blue wave in November. So the potential to flip this seat is real. Please help me get the word out!
